Monsters of Psych, Nuremburg, 2024
Poster for the ‘Monsters of Psyche’ festival, Z-Bau, Nuremberg, Germany, 2025.
Monsters of Psyche takes place during the Christmas Holidays in Nuremberg. Early on in the development of the poster concept I asked what made the festival special. The answer was that this is a time for friends and family from Nuremberg to meet up and come together, the whole town is welcomed to be involved in this. Friends meet at the Festival who may not have seen each other for a year, since the last festival. It is a reunion, a seasonal celebration, a celebration of community and an opportunity for local business to engage with the progressive views of the people involved. This is a time to dance, to look forward and build relationships and a future for the town. So the image is a spring festival, rooted in tradition. The mycelium wraps around the typography and connects the characters to each other. The characters are the world and nature as we are all connected. This connection springs to life with greenery, birds, insects and flowers. The flowers include some specific German wildflowers, the Bee is ecologically important and the bird, a Goldfinch, is a symbol from Medieval Art where it was used to represent the mythical Charadrius, a bird capable of taking sickness into itself.
On this page for the poster I have included some old drafts and some evidence of assets made using the artwork by the festival organisers.
